    CAMDEN BURIALS

    APRIL 20 – 22, 2023

    THE FOURTEEN

    On Thursday April 20, 2023 THE FOURTEEN return to Camden to lye in repose for 30-hours at the Kershaw House from 6:00pm Thursday evening till Midnight Friday. At which time preparation for the Saturday morning cortege began. On Saturday at 9:30am the cortege stepped off from Historic Camden taking THE FOURTEEN to Bethesda Presbyterian Church for 11:00am service. And then at 3:00pm THE FOURTEEN arrived at the Battle of Camden battlefield. Where the US Army and the British Army rendered full military honors.

    Lying in Repose

    The public was invited to pay their respects to THE FOURTEEN lying in repose at the Kershaw House. The house was open for 30-hours straight, starting at 6pm on Thursday April 20 till Friday April 21 at Midnight.

    Old Guard Concert

    The heralded US Army Old Guard gave a public concert including a narrated demonstration.

    Funeral Cortege

    At 9:30am the Funeral Cortege lead by the Old Guard took THE FOURTEEN from Historic Camden to Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

    Church Service

    At 11:00am THE FOURTEEN where reunited with General DeKalb at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church. The service concluded with the US Air Force providing a flyover by the 79th Fighter Squadron.

    Burial Honors Ceremony

    At 3:00pm THE FOURTEEN arrived at the Battle of Camden battlefield. Where the US Army and the British Army rendered military honors. The South Carolina Army National Guard provided a flyover in Apache helicopters.

    Finally at Peace

    The Old Presbyterian Graveyard, found right outside the south west palisade wall of occupied Camden in 1780-81.  Is the final resting place for twelve Continentals Soldiers that fell at the Battle of Camden and were given a proper funeral with full military honors on April 22, 2023.
