At least once a month (please check the calendar) the entire campus of Historic Camden comes alive with living history demonstrations and more. This is a great opportunity for visitors to see the buildings and what they hold, as well as engage with history via pottery, blacksmithing, brickmaking and farming demonstrations. All these things and more for just $5!
A Great Opportunity
The open house format is a wonderful way to interact with our interpretive staff and volunteers. Visitors can learn through hands on experiences, like brick making or basket weaving, or front row seats to blacksmithing and agricultural demonstrations.
There is always a significant historic theme associated with each open house. In May the open house is linked via George Washington’s 1791 tour of Camden. In August the link is via the Battle of Camden and also includes a commemoration ceremony at the battlefield.
Coincides with a Larger Event
While there is always a connection, it’s sometimes on a larger scale. Some months it may tied to an event hosted on site, like Irish Fest, a local fundraiser, or the Battle of Camden BBQ Festival hosted by the Jaycees.
The Historic Camden Foundation is not state or federally funded so we rely on individual donations. Even a small donation truly helps. So please send a gift and make a difference!
