5th Annual Patriots, Picnic, & Pops

In celebration of America’s Independence, Historic Camden and members of the Camden Community Concert Band will host the 5th annual Patriots, Picnic & Pops on Sunday, June 30 from 5-8 pm. The FREE, family event will be held in the Kershaw-Cornwallis House garden. Science in the 1700s was a lot different than it is today. With few scientific answers, people turned to religion and magic to explain the mysterious world around them. However, colonists still used practical science every day, even if they didn’t realize it. Interested in archaeology? Dig this! Historic Camden will host a camp for a hands-on introduction to archaeology. Discover how artifacts helped us determine the history of the Camden/Kershaw County area. Battle of Camden Commemoration

Join us for our annual commemoration of the Battle of Camden on Saturday, August 10 at 9am. Pay honor to the men who served and died during this devastating battle with speakers, a wreath-laying, and cannon and musket salutes. FREE event for the family, and includes a tour of the Battlefield at 8am. Dress for heat, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes. Rain or shine. Located at the Camden Battlefield and Longleaf Pine Preserve (1606 Flat Rock Rd.).
